-The Ramadan cannon remains one of the UAE’s most cherished traditions, marking the moment of iftar and drawing families and visitors to gathering points across the city
Dubai Police has finalized preparations to fire the Ramadan cannon at seven locations across the emirate to announce the sighting of the holy month’s crescent, in coordination with the UAE’s moon-sighting authorities.
The crescent announcement cannon will be fired from Nazwa, alongside six other key areas witnessing high residential and tourist footfall: Jumeirah Beach Residence, Burj Khalifa, Damac Hills, Expo City Dubai (Al Wasl Plaza), Dubai Festival City, and Vida Creek Harbour Hotel.
Dedicated teams have been formed at each site in cooperation with strategic partners to ensure operational readiness, crowd management, and safety throughout the holy month.
In addition to the stationary cannons, Dubai Police has prepared 17 stops for the mobile cannon, which will begin firing from Dubai Gardens on the first day of Ramadan. The route includes One&Only One Za’abeel, Umm Suqeim Majlis, Bab Al Shams, Al Meydan Hotel, Global Village, Atlantis The Palm, Nad Al Sheba Majlis, Mirdif, Lehbab, Al Khawaneej Majlis, Boulevard Marina, Al Warqa, Dubai Creek Harbour, and Al Barsha Park.
The Ramadan cannon remains one of the UAE’s most cherished traditions, marking the moment of iftar and drawing families and visitors to gathering points across the city. Dubai Police has upheld the practice for more than 60 years, preserving its cultural significance while expanding its reach across communities.
Each cannon fires 35 rounds during Ramadan and Eid: two rounds upon confirmation of the Ramadan crescent, one round daily to signal iftar, one round on the first day of Eid Al Fitr, and two rounds immediately after the Eid prayer in celebration.
