Emirates airline on Monday said there are no “firm plans” to resume flights to the Israeli capital Tel Aviv.

Bloomberg earlier reported that Dubai’s flagship carrier is “preparing to resume flights to Tel Aviv.”

“Emirates can confirm that services to/from Tel Aviv remain suspended, and there are no firm plans to restart operations,” an Emirates spokesperson said in a statement to Khaleej Times.

The world’s largest international airline suspended its operations to Ben Gurion Airport nearly two years ago due to military conflicts involving Israel and other regional countries.

Tensions are rising in the Middle East as US President Donald Trump threatened to attack Iran. Tehran also warned the US and Israel that its forces are on high alert following Washington’s heavy military deployment in the Middle East.

However, Emirates said that passengers can choose to fly with flydubai, which is currently operating direct flights to Israel, as it has a codesharing agreement with Dubai’s smaller carrier.

“Customers can fly on our codeshare partner flydubai, where they can connect onwards with Emirates to our network of more than 150 cities,” said the statement.
